Let’s Cook: Salsa! (Ages 6-8)

Saturday, August 29, 10am–12pm
Take a tour of the garden and pick fresh ingredients. Head back to the kitchen to chop, juice, grate, and mix everything together to create a salsa bar. Ages 6–8. Hands-on and tasting led by Leslie Markworth. VEGETARIAN

Summer Classic: Soup & Salad (Ages 9–11)

Saturday, August 29, 1:30–3:30pm
Young cooks visit the garden to gather fresh produce. Transform your harvest into tomato basil soup, homemade gnocchi, and a crisp cucumber salad. Ages 9–11. Hands-on and tasting led by Leslie Markworth.  VEGETARIAN

Let’s Bake: Cake! (Ages 4–6)

Saturday, September 12, 10–11:30am
Learn basic baking methods to prepare a lightly spiced apple cake. Enjoy story time and a craft while it bakes in the oven. Ages 4–6. Hands-on and tasting led by Leslie Markworth. VEGETARIAN

Caterpillar Crawl (All Ages)

Saturday, September 26, 2–4:30pm
Enjoy an interactive exploration with exhibiting artist Samuel Jaffe as he brings some of his favorite subjects to share: large, weird, and entirely unexpected native caterpillars. Following a brief show & tell, Samuel leads children and their parents on a caterpillar hunting walk around the grounds of the Conservatory in search of its hidden creatures. Learn how to track and find caterpillars, and come away with a new appreciation for what may be living in your own backyard.

Interesting Insects & Charismatic Creatures (Ages 10+)

Sunday, September 27, 2–3:30pm
Look behind the scenes of Samuel Jaffe’s exhibit, Life on the Leaf Edge, as Jaffe shares his experiences in developing "The Caterpillar Project" over the last decade.  Parents and their children learn about the art, science and educational value of our native insects, view Samuel’s beautiful photographs, and meet some of the creatures themselves in a living display.

Family Fitness Fun (Ages 7+ with adult)

Wednesday, October 14, 5–5:45pm
Combine exercise and fun while spending time together as a family. Be prepared to take on a full-body circuit designed to give the entire family an entertaining and challenging workout. All fitness levels are welcome! Maximum two children per adult. Wear comfortable clothing and bring a water bottle. Led by Christian Jacob, ACSM Certified Personal Trainer, Personal Fitness Navigators.

Iced Sugar Cookies for Kids (Ages 6+)

Sunday, December 13, 3:30–5:30pm
The perfect present for your little baker! Mix, cut out, bake, and decorate whole-grain, dairy- and egg-free cookies. Dress in something that can get messy. Ages 6 and up. Hands-on & tasting led by Molly Shea, Pattycake Bakery. VEGAN
