Bending Nature is the next in an ongoing program of exhibitions at the Conservatory that draws parallels between the visual arts and the Conservatory’s traditional mission of horticultural science and education. Plants, plant growth and horticultural traditions have inspired this group of very different artists and designers.
It is the first large-scale group exhibition organized by the Conservatory and brings together works in sculpture, photography, drawings, film and video by fifteen national, international and Ohio-based contemporary artists.
An interactive children’s area provides opportunities for young visitors to emulate the processes used by several Bending Nature artists. Monthly Family Fun Saturday programs are themed around Bending Nature artists, and artist Dorothy Gill Barnes will lead a workshop for families.
Bird's Eye is the work of artist Laura Stein. She has trained Mic, the conservatory's macaw, to take photographs of visitors. To view and download Mic's pictures, please click here. Or for video please click here.
