HOLIDAYS AT THE CONSERVATORY

Enjoy the colors and spirit of the holidays at Franklin Park Conservatory. Hundreds of poinsettias, the traditional 15-foot poinsettia tree, the delightful model garden railway, the fourth annual Gingerbread House Competition and display, Candlelight Nights on Wednesday Evenings, and family activities.
Holidays at the Conservatory begins at 5 p.m. on Wednesday evening, November 24 with the first of five Wednesday Candlelight Nights, and the seasonal celebration continues through January 2 with activities for adults, families, and children; Breakfast with Santa; Palm House Candlelight Buffets; and live glassblowing demonstrations daily at the Hot Shop.
GINGERBREAD HOUSE COMPETITION
Entries in the fourth annual GINGERBREAD HOUSE COMPETITION will be displayed in the Palm House Gallery. Entries from five categories – Youth, Teen, Family, Adult, and Professional – will delight with their creativity. The contest is open to everyone. Prizes are awarded to winners. Details, deadlines and entry forms will be available online later this year.
SHOP BOTANICA
Unique offerings including seasonal plants, gardening books, and gifts for all ages can be found at Botanica, the Conservatory’s gift shop and greenhouse. Popular holiday items include mini poinsettias, bulbs for forcing, bonsai, orchids, and children’s items. Vases, bowls, wine goblets, paperweights, ornaments made in the Conservatory’s glass blowing HOT SHOP – or the very piece you watched the gaffers create- are available for purchase in BOTANICA. Books and DVDs about Dale Chihuly and his work, Limited Edition Prints, and Chihuly Studio Editions are also available.
Holiday hours: Open daily 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., Wednesdays until 8 p.m.
