HUMAN RESOURCES INTERNSHIP
Seeking a motivated college intern to assist our Human Resources Director. Candidate must be able to work independently, possess strong organizational skills, exercise confidentiality, and have an eye for detail.
Internship duties include, but are not limited to, creation of Performance Evaluation System, creation of Benefits Survey for employees, create Company Organization Chart, create Application Process, audit files, assist with Benefits Open Enrollment, assist with the billing of health/dental insurance premiums, update/create HR forms, assist with organizing files/filing. Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
This internship is available beginning December 2011 and can extend through June 2012, depending on intern availability. Must be available to work during regular business hours, Mon.-Fri., 9AM-5PM. Flexible schedule based on intern’s availability.

BLOOMS & BUTTERFLIES – Summer Quarter
Seeking 2 dependable and detail oriented student interested in biological sciences to assist us in our butterfly Emergence Center. The intern will be responsible for maintaining the USDA containment facility by monitoring temperature and humidity levels, talking to visitors, cleaning display windows, caring for pupae and assisting with daily butterfly releases. Other exhibition duties as needed.
Requirement: Ability to provide 15-20 internship hours/week. Must major in Entomology, Biological Sciences, Natural Resources or similar field.

EXHIBITIONS – Summer, Fall & Winter Quarters
Seeking 3 Interns to Interpret artwork and exhibition features for visitors. Qualified candidates will monitor the visitors’ interaction with artwork while providing excellent customer service. Interns will also assist the Exhibition staff with development and installation of artwork and exhibitions. Other exhibition duties as needed.
Requirement: Ability to provide 15-20 internship hours/week. Must major in Art, Art History or related field.

HORTICULTURE – Community Garden Campus
The community garden campus intern assists staff and volunteer groups with the daily maintenance of the community garden campus. This four acre facility has many differently themed display gardens containing both permanent plantings such as; ornamental trees and shrubs, perennial flowers, vines and herbs, roses, fruit trees and berries, as well as, seasonal color and rotating crop areas. This internship will be available beginning Mid March through September.
Daily tasks include but are not limited to the following: watering, weeding, crop planting and harvesting, pruning and training of plants, mulching, monitoring for pests, and assist with clean-up of working areas and tool maintenance. Interns also assist staff with the weekly harvest prediction, and record keeping of crops harvested.

HORTICULTURE – Conservatory
Conservatory interns assist staff and volunteers in maintaining the Conservatory’s plant collections, common areas, horticultural exhibitions and our exterior courtyards to the highest standards using appropriate horticultural practices. Interns will become well rounded in the a.m. operations of opening duties within the conservatory’s plant collections. Designated areas may be given to interns and will be responsible for the care and maintenance of these areas under the supervision of a horticulturist. This internship will be available year long
Daily tasks include but are not limited to the following: watering, weeding, planting, pruning and training of plants, mulching, monitoring for pests, and assist with clean-up of working areas and tool maintenance. Interns also assist staff with exhibit installs and deinstalls.

HORTICULTURE – Offsite: The Columbus Commons
The Columbus Commons Gardens are located in downtown Columbus where the City Center Mall once stood. This 7 acre “World Class Garden” will be the spectacle of Columbus in 2011. The Commons intern will be working with a Franklin Park Conservatory Horticulturist in maintaining 12 – 2000 square ft. gardens. A mix of ornamentals, perennials, grasses and seasonal color will be present in this brand new garden. Assist in Installation and the long term maintenance while learning the in’s and out’s of horticulture in such a public space. This internship will be available beginning the first of April through September.
Daily tasks may include but are not limited to the following:Planting, watering, weeding, pruning, deadheading, mulching, monitoring for pests, fertilizing etc. Working with volunteers as the garden sees fit and interacting with the public to promote Franklin Park Conservatory.

HORTICULTURE – Plant Identification Signage
The signage program intern will work with the signage program coordinator as well as independently. Tasks will or may include scouting potential plant material for signage, research to complete signage prep, assisting with engraving, sign to stake assembly and placement within the gardens/collections. Once placed, the intern will be responsible for the maintenance of the signage. Intern must provide laptop for needed research and be proficient in Excel to create spreadsheets. This internship is available year round.

Gallery Interpretation Intern
Under the supervision of the assistant registrar, the gallery interpreter intern will hold primary responsibility for greeting and welcoming all gallery visitors, responding to artwork inquiries, and establishing communication needed to sell the gallery artwork.
