Boy Scouts

Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens is proud to support Boy Scouts in central Ohio with fun, hands-on activities designed around scout adventures.

Programs (below) are 90 minute lessons including hands-on activities and a take-home component (dependent on program). Each program will satisfy a portion of the required steps of the desired adventure. Conservatory admission is included with program fee during regular business hours (daily from 10am-5pm).

The maximum number of participants 25 scouts and 10 leaders per program. All accompanying leaders and parents are required to pay the program fee.

Space is limited and programs are designed for specific age groups and scout adventures, we kindly ask for no siblings or tagalongs. Thank you for your understanding! We invite these individuals to explore the outdoor grounds or the Conservatory (with admission fee) until program is completed.

Wolf Scouts
Saturday, March 10, 3–5pm Grow Something Hey Wolf Scouts, come grow something at the Conservatory! Almost all plants on Earth grow from seeds! Discover how seeds travel to become new plants and venture through the Conservatory’s unique environment. Plant seeds and create a terrarium to take home. Wolves will complete all five steps of their Grow Something Elective Adventure. Location: The Wells Barn

Bear Scouts
Saturday, April 7, 3–4:30pm Critter Care Do you think a butterfly would make a good pet? Visit the Conservatory to find out! Search for creepy crawlies on a fun bug hunt that ends at a tropical haven full of fluttering butterflies. Take home a Painted Lady caterpillar to raise and release into nature. Bears will complete six of the seven steps of their Critter Care Elective Adventure. Location: American Electric Power Foundation Education Pavilion

Saturday, April 14, 2–3:30pm Jr. Gardener Dig deeper into the world of plants while getting dirty in the garden. Bears will explore the the science of compost including the Conservatory’s Red Wigglers-the worms that keep the gardens growing healthy. Bears, take home seeds to plant a small garden of your own! Bears will complete steps five through seven of the Fur, Feathers, and Fern Required Adventures. Location: The Wells Barn

Tiger Scouts
Saturday, February 3, 10–11:30am Stories in Shapes Hey Tigers, did you know that the Conservatory is a great place to view art and practice your art skills? Take a walking tour through the Conservatory’s art collection, including glass works of Dale Chihuly and our featured gallery artist. Create your own art piece to take home and enjoy. Tigers will complete all steps of their Stories in Shapes Elective Adventure. Location: Conservatory Meeting Room A/B
