Cub Scouts

Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens is proud to partner with Boy Scouts of America in central Ohio to offer educational, hands-on activities designed around scout adventures.

All 2020 scout programming has been put on hold. The programs listed below can be used as a reference for the future.

Programs

Lion Scouts (Kindergartners)
75 minute program Ready, Set, Grow What is a plant and how does it grow? Come get your hands dirty and find out! Take home seeds to plant and watch grow in your own garden.


Parent/Guardian required. Lions will complete all steps of the Ready, Set, Grow elective.
Cost: $10 per scout/adult
Tiger Scouts (1st Grade)
2 hour program Tigers in the Wild Tour the “wild” grounds of the Conservatory on an educational evening hike that ends at the campfire. Get cozy with s’mores and friends!


Parent/Guardian required. Tigers will complete steps four through seven of the Tigers in the Wild required adventure.
Cost: $10 per scout/adult
2 hour program Tiger Bites Visit the Conservatory kitchen to learn nutrition basics and make tasty snacks from scratch!


Parent/Guardian required. Tigers will complete steps one, two and six or the Tiger Bite required adventure
Cost: $14 per scout, $10 per adult
Wolf Scouts (2nd Grade)
2 hour program Grow Something Explore the gardens and learn what it takes to keep plants growing strong and healthy. Create your own minigarden and take home seeds to conduct your own seed experiment.


Wolves will complete steps one through four of their Grow Something Elective Adventure.
Cost: $13 per scout, $10 per adult
2 hour program Digging in the Past Imagine a world of soaring ferns and extreme reptiles, it's almost too incredible to believe! Journey through unique environments to meet some of the plants and dinosaurs that lived in the Jurassic Period. Meet Ohio’s favorite fossil and make your own to take home.


Wolves will complete step three, five and six of Digging in the Past Elective Adventure.
Cost: $13 per scout, $10 per adult
Bear Scouts (3rd Grade)
2 hour program Critter Care Search for creepy crawlies on a fun bug hunt that ends at a tropical haven full of fluttering butterflies. Study insect anatomy and life cycles while investigating these amazing creatures. Take home a Painted Lady caterpillar to raise and release into nature.


This program is offered Spring through Fall and will include the Blooms and Butterflies exhibition from March 14-July 5th. Bears will complete steps one, two and five of Critter Care Elective Adventure.
Cost: $14 per scout, $10 per adult
2 hour program Simple Meals Put on an apron and roll up your sleeves, it's time to cook! Learn the tools of the trade in the Conservatory kitchen while you make and enjoy brunch with your Cub Scout friends.


Bears will complete components of steps one, two and three of the Bear Picnic Basket Elective Adventure.
Cost: $18 per scout/adult
2 hour program Jr. Gardener (Fur, Feathers and Ferns, Part 1) Dig deeper into the world of gardening and take home seeds and skills you can use at home. Ever heard of vermicomposting? Come meet our compost worms to learn more!


Bears will complete steps three and five through seven of the Fur, Feathers, and Fern Required Adventure.
Cost: $10 per scout/adult
2 hour program Fur, Feathers and Ferns, Part 2 Hike and learn! Complete a one-mile hike through the park grounds as we investigate animals and plants that call this part of Ohio their home. Enjoy the evening with s’mores and friends around the campfire.


Bears do not need to take Fur, Feathers, and Ferns Part 1 to take or enjoy Part 2. Bears will complete steps one, two and four of their Fur, Feathers, and Fern Required Adventure.
Cost: $12 per scout, $10 per adult
Webelo Scouts & Arrow of Light Adventures (4th & 5th Grade)
Art Explosion The Conservatory is teeming with art experiences for your group. Discover various art pieces created by regional artists and the glasswork of Dale Chihuly. In the classroom, create an art piece to take home.
