Papermaking Workshop

Roll your sleeves and join fine artist Yani Sheng for a fun papermaking workshop. Students will learn how to make their own paper by using recycled newspapers or other paper items and embellishing their handmade paper with dried flowers and colorful string.

Instructor: Yani Sheng Born in Taiwan, raised in Belize, and educated in Canada, transplant Yani Sheng has recently taken roots in Columbus, Ohio. Yani has struggled with dyslexia her entire life, but with perseverance, she was able to continue her education and received her B.F.A. in Visual Art and her Bachelor of Education from Memorial University. Having exhibited in several galleries abroad, including Image Factory Gallery, JL Gallery, and SWGC Gallery, Yani has now found herself immersed in the Columbus local art scene.

Yani had her first solo exhibit in Columbus at BrickBox Studios, Mcconnell Art Gallery, and was selected as an emerging artist by the Columbus Art Festival. In 2022, Yani won the Juror's Choice Award for her OAR exhibition "Faces in The Time of Covid". Yani is an active instructor at McConnell Arts Center and Mansfield Art Center. She is also one of the new artists in residence at High Road Gallery, where she works and teaches private art lessons.
