Watercolor: Colors of Autumn

Capture the colors of autumn with your paintbrush. Join for the four-week series (Saturdays, October 6, 13, 20 & 27) , or drop in on a class. The Colors of Autumn is open for beginners and experienced painters alike. Registration is required (below).

Changing Leaves

Saturday, October 6, 1–3pm

Autumn brings us ample opportunities to see the full glory of nature during brisk walks in the woods. We’ll paint from photos we’ve taken, printed from our camera or phone. It’s time to really look into the structure of some leaves, capturing the beautiful colors and fine details.

The Hollowed Tree

Saturday, October 13, 1–3pm

The magic of trees, with bark that seems to take on the face of a troll. This is where reality becomes stranger than fiction. Enjoy the time to play with light and shadow, as it becomes “the hollowed tree”.

Water Reflections of Autumn

Saturday, October 20, 1–3pm

Combine the banks of a stream or lake with the colors of autumn. Find the stark beauty of a white tree limb, as well as the depth of indigo shadows. We’ll study paintings by Winslow Homer.

The Barren Tree

Saturday, October 27, 1–3pm

Its shape is sensuous, its life is sapped. Let’s do a painting of the trees without the foliage as we proceed into the month of November.
