June: Backyard Bugs

Explore the Conservatory in June to learn about the bugs and pollinators found in our own backyard! Celebrate bees, butterflies, moths and all of the other creatures that make our gardens grow during this month’s theme: Backyard Bugs.

Bug out with themed events, classes, programs and the garden’s buggy elements. “Bee” sure join us on June 10 for the first Conservatory Explore Nights for a night of family-friendly fun.

Please note: Conservatory Explore Nights are evening experiences occurring after General Admission and require Special Engagement tickets.

Backyard Bugs Events & Programs

Here are bug-themed events and programs to add to your calendar.

Conservatory Explore Nights: Backyard Bugs June 10 | 5-9pm | Special Engagement Admission Required

The first of the new Conservatory Explore Nights is a family-friendly festival celebrating bugs. Guests will enjoy an evening featuring a bug-themed scavenger hunt, music, activities, cocktails & mocktails, plus food trucks and the opportunity to explore the Conservatory at night.
June Community Day June 4 | 10am-5pm | Free with Franklin County or Columbus ID

Community Day is the first Sunday of every month. Residents of Columbus and Franklin County receive free General Admission. Identification is required.
Children's Garden Educational Programs All Month | Daily & Weekly Programs Available | Included With Admission

Bug-themed educational programs are featured in the Children's Garden all month long. These programs include hands-on learning, physical activities, storytelling and more.
Butterfly Topiaries June 3-September 10 | Included With Admission

Flutter over to the Grand Mallway to catch a glimpse of the two butterfly topiaries inGarden Safari.
The Bugman June 4 | 11am | Included With Admission

This a local bug celebrity brings his buggy buddies to the Children's Garden
Needle Felted Bees and Bouquets Class June 11 | 1-2:30pm | Registration Required

Learn how to make needle-felted bees and flowers.
Pollinator Palooza June 24 | 11am-3pm | Free

The Conservatory's annual free celebration of all the creatures that make our gardens grow. Located in the Scotts Miracle-Gro Company Community Garden Campus, this event features local pollinator advocacy organizations, garden tours, crafts and more.
