Introduction to Beekeeping

Interested in beekeeping, or just want to learn more about these powerful pollinators? In this presentation, members of the Columbus Ohio Beekeepers Association (COBA)- experienced beekeepers and mentors- will give an overview of the basics of beekeeping.

In this class, we will explore the hidden contents of bee boxes; dive into the seasonal responsibilities of the beekeeper; discuss the fascinating biology and social behavior of honey bees; discuss responsible gardening for pollinators; and discuss beekeeping safety.

Weather pending, we will walk out to the Apiary managed by COBA to observe some aspects of apiary management first hand!

Instructor: Central Ohio Beekeepers Association (COBA) COBA is a non-profit organization 501 (c)(5) in the State of Ohio and is dedicated to promoting bees and beekeeping in Central Ohio. We provide educational opportunities throughout the year at our monthly meetings, which are held on the 3rd Wednesday of most months at the Franklin Park Conservatory, 1777 E Broad St, Columbus, OH. 43205
