As Earth Day draws near, you may be wondering what to do and where to start. This class focuses on money-saving swaps you can start doing today to take action towards reducing waste in the home, focusing on the largest waste producer, the kitchen. Conservatory Sustainability Coordinator Heather Bell will guide you through your journey to a more sustainable kitchen, and GreenSpot Coordinator Christy Walters will discuss the positive impacts these swaps have on water quality.
Topics include:
-Minimizing food waste
-Becoming an informed consumer
-Some product swaps
At the end of class, you’ll make a natural cleaning solution to take home to become an instant replacement for disposable cleaning wipes- just add your own rags!
Christy Walters of GreenSpot Columbus will co-lead the class, providing insight into water conservation through sustainable cooking practices with a focus on minimizing food waste and utilizing kitchen scraps effectively. GreenSpot is a free membership-based program that provides a framework to think about sustainability and a way to log your successes. It is free to join and there is no fee or cost ever.
