Garden Spotlight: Franklinton Farms

Posted: June 24, 2026

Over the years, Growing to Green and Franklinton Farms have cultivated a collaborative relationship rooted in a shared mission: building community through food justice. Located just west of downtown Columbus, Franklinton Farms is a vibrant, highly productive urban farm and education nonprofit. What began as a community garden in 2007 has blossomed into a vital local powerhouse—providing sustainable urban agriculture, therapeutic gardening education, ecological beautification, and crucial fresh food access. They don’t just grow food; they nourish neighborhood well-being and connection.

Recently, Growing to Green coordinated a community volunteer workday at the farms, bringing together eight dedicated members of the Franklin Park Conservatory’s Women’s Board. On a sunny Wednesday morning, the team rolled up their sleeves and contributed 16 hours of collective service—generating an incredible financial impact of approximately $519.

This recent workday is just one example of our ongoing commitment to Franklinton Farms, and we look forward to deepening our collaboration through future service projects and resource exchange. Want to get involved and see their impact firsthand? Join us at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at Franklinton Farms for our next collaborative workday!
