Late Spring Foraging Walk

Late spring is one of the best times to forage in nature! Join Forager and Chef, Lorenzo Tavani for a foraging plant walk around the Franklin Park Conservatory Community Garden Campus. Class will consist of an hour long, guided plant walk, focusing on edible plants growing at the park. Students can expect to feel more comfortable identifying wild plants, gain a better idea of how to become a better forager, build a deeper relationship to the natural world around us connecting us to the planet, and learn how to incorporate these wild foods into their everyday lives.

We will gather in the Education Pavilion before beginning our walk. Please be prepared for a gentle guided walk around Conservatory grounds and have appropriate footwear.

Instructor: Lorenzo Tavani Lorenzo Tavani is a trained chef who started his career in the Columbus State culinary program and completed 4 years of apprenticeship at Lindeys Restaurant and Bar. Lorenzo found a deep passion for better understanding the impacts our food has on our health and the health of the planet. Through this journey he has worked various jobs in the food system, from a small family farm, to a small-scale slaughterhouse where he gained a deeper connection to his food. Lorenzo fell deeply in love with learning about wild plants in 2019 and spends most of his free time foraging, gardening and cooking tasty food. He now works as an in-home private chef and hosts Columbus's Favorite wild and local food experience, Cook Forage Feast. His mission is to motivate others to build a deeper relationship to their food and the natural world through his wild and local food education.
