Sunprint: Cyanotype Workshop

Please note: This class has been rescheduled for Friday, June 21 from 12-2pm.

This is a workshop taught by artist, Kellie Gedert.

Harness the power of the sun, and create all natural art celebrating the summer solstice! Students will learn how to create prints using Cyanotype paper, exploring the traditional method. Known as a photographic printing technique, cyanotype is a unique manual process that has been used to create print patterns for almost 200 years.

Through a photosensitive solution that dyes surfaces blue when in direct contact with light, it reveals original prints in an intense and unique shade of blue. Kellie will guide you through a cyan-colored journey where science and art mix beautifully.

In this course, you’ll learn all the steps required to create your cyanotype prints with ease; from the preparation of the solution, to the creation of images on paper, to exposing light and fixating color. Discover how to apply your prints onto different surfaces such as paper and wood using plants, flowers, and even objects.
