The Communal Garden: Pest Pairs

Classes in The Communal Garden series teach gardeners skills that can be used in community gardens or to support their community through gardening. They are low-cost in an effort to advance gardening skills in our communities. The series is a part of the Conservatory’s Growing to Green program, which supports and develops community gardens across Central Ohio. The Communal Garden classes are made possible by support from a grateful gardener.

Do you know what invasives might be in your garden? In this class, we’ll be discussing pairs of invasives: invasive plants and the pests that accompany them! You’ll learn how to identify common invasive pests and plants, ways you can remedy them, and ways you can help your garden continue to keep them out. We will also discuss what to do if you see an invasive insect, and when possible, how to report your sightings of invasive insects for monitoring. At the end of class, we’ll also use the app Seek to show how you can collect data in your daily life- download the Seek from iNaturalist app to follow along if you’d like.

If necessary, please be sure to check your spam folder for communications about this class.
