On Friday, May 1, friends and supporters gathered at Franklin Park Conservatory to celebrate a remarkable milestone: the 25th annual Les Chapeaux dans le Jardin, affectionately known as Hat Day. Hosted by Franklin Park Conservatory and 2026 Chair Kristie Nicolosi Lagos, this beloved tradition once again brought together community, creativity and purpose in support of the Conservatory’s youth education and outreach programs. Bright hats, elegant spring attire and fashionable umbrellas set the tone for an afternoon that proved that not even the weather can dampen the spirit of this beloved tradition.
For 25 years, Hat Day has been more than a luncheon; it has been a celebration of connection and a reflection of the Conservatory’s mission. Set against the backdrop of the Conservatory and seasonal displays, it embodies the intersection of nature, art and community. This milestone anniversary provided a meaningful opportunity to honor the legacy and recognize the many sponsors, past Chairs, honorees and dedicated supporters whose vision and generosity have shaped Hat Day into a cherished tradition.
The event also paid tribute to Hat Day’s rich history through one of its most beloved traditions, the Fleurs et Couture runway show. Past Hat Day Chairs, or loved ones representing them, modeled one-of-a-kind, floral-inspired hats designed by local florists. Each piece served as a living work of art and a heartfelt nod to the individuals who, over the past 25 years, have shaped Hat Day into what it is today. Their vision, leadership and dedication have built a legacy that continues to flourish with each passing year.
A highlight of the afternoon was the presentation of the Ann Isaly Wolfe Award to Carla L. Cefaratti, whose longstanding commitment to the Conservatory exemplifies the spirit of community. Carla’s more than two decades of leadership, philanthropy and advocacy have expanded access to education and created opportunities for thousands of children and families to experience the wonder of the Conservatory. As President and CEO Bruce A. Harkey shared, “Carla embodies the heart of Hat Day and the legacy of the Ann Isaly Wolfe Award. Her extraordinary generosity, leadership and commitment to expanding access to education have created opportunities for thousands of children and families. As we celebrate 25 years of Hat Day, it is especially fitting to honor someone whose impact will be felt for generations.”

Thanks to the incredible support of sponsors, attendees and donors, Hat Day 2026 was a record-setting year, raising more than $674,000 to support the Conservatory’s youth education programs, helping inspire the next generation through hands-on learning experiences in nature and art.
A special and heartfelt thank you to Kristie Nicolosi Lagos, for her visionary leadership, impeccable thoughtfulness and inspiring passion for creating a wonderful 25th anniversary event.
