Retired Orchid Sale for Members

Reservations are available now!  Members must be logged in to their online member account to gain access at that time.

This is your chance to own a piece of Orchids, one of the Conservatory’s most beautiful exhibitions. During the sale, members can purchase orchids that have been retired from the annual exhibition. A limited amount of tropical houseplants and foliage will also be available but inventory primarily consists of in-bloom and out-of-bloom orchids.

Plants will be priced to sell and inventory is limited. A reservation is required to shop the sale but does not guarantee inventory availability. The sale is in The Wells Barn, a short distance from the main Conservatory building. Signage will direct members to the parking lot in front of The Wells Barn. If you need directions, please consult the Conservatory map.

Reservations Reservations are required to shop the sale and reservations are restricted to current members. Use the reservation buttons to access a virtual queue. When it's your turn in the queue, you will be required to log in to your membership account and then automatically be directed to register.

Time slots, particularly early ones, will sell out quickly. A wait list will be made available once every spot is sold out. Unlike previous years, the wait list is for the entire sale. You only need to add your information to the wait list once.

How can I register for the sale?

To shop the Retired Orchid Sale, you must be a current member of Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. Registration for this sale begins at 11am on Thursday, March 13.

Members can use the reservation buttons to register once they’re logged in to their membership account.

We have done our best to accommodate as many members as possible. Thank you in advance for your understanding!

My membership includes guests, can they come with me to shop the sale?

Members are permitted to bring as many guests as are covered by the membership but they must make enough reservations to account for themselves and their guests.

What plants will be available during the sale?

Inventory consists mostly of in-bloom and out-of-bloom orchids. A limited amount of tropical plants and foliage will also be available but this is primarily an opportunity to shop for orchids.

All year round, Botanica Gift Shop & Greenhouse sells a variety of fairly priced plants, including orchids, tropical houseplants, and outdoor perennial and annual plants plus home and garden accessories. Members receive 10% off at Botanica.

Please do not attempt to resell any plants purchased at the Retired Orchid Sale.

After arriving at the time I registered for, how long can I stay to shop?

The sale goes until 12:30pm. There is no time limit for shopping but we ask you to keep in mind the limited capacity of the space and members who are registered for later times.

I reserved a later time slot. Will there still be plants available?

We have done our best to ensure that there will be an adequate amount of plant material for everyone who shops the sale, but please note that a reservation is NOT a guarantee that plants will still be available at that time. Plants are priced to sell and may sell out quickly.

What if registration fills up?

We expect registrations to fill up very quickly as this is a popular event. If a time slot fills up, consider a different time slot. Time slots are every 15 minutes between 8am and 12:15pm.

Otherwise, a wait list will be made available once every spot is sold out. Unlike previous years, the wait list is for the entire sale. You only need to add your information to the wait list once.

Where is the Retired Orchid Sale located?

The Retired Orchid Sale will be located in The Wells Barn, a short distance from the main Conservatory entrance. Please see our map.

What do I need to bring with me?

Please arrive at your reserved entry time with your virtual or physical membership card or a photo ID. We may not be able to accommodate you if you arrive 15 minutes before or after the entry time for the time slot you reserved.

Cash and all major credit cards will be accepted.

Is there a limit to the number of plants I can purchase?

We have not set a limit on plants per customer.

I can no longer attend the Retired Orchid Sale. What should I do?

If you can no longer attend the sale, please email [email protected] to cancel your reservation so that the spot can be free for someone else.

Are there other opportunities to purchase plants from the Conservatory?

If other plant sales are scheduled, they will be communicated to members.
